Men’s Rugby Imports Player of the Week

Player: Tayab Kirmani
School: Hofstra University
Position: Number 8
Class: Junior

Kirmani played a tremendous game in a narrow 17-15 loss to last year’s conference champions RPI. The Big number 8 was a force on defense and questioned RPI’s line with a number of powerful pick and go at the breakdown. Hofstra has struggled in league play in recent years, but a tight match with the defending conference champs puts the league on notice. Kirmani was instrumental in the game, earning praise from both coaches and the referee for his gritty performance.

Women’s Rugby Imports Player of the Week

Player: Adriana Castillo
School: Marist College
Position: Number 8
Class: Junior

Castillo has become one of the leaders of the Marist Women’s team and her play this week helped Marist soundly defeat Stony Brook 42-10. The junior scored a pair of tries and made an impact on defense and the set piece. The number 8 stole four opposing line outs, made 12 tackles and poached the ball on seven different occasions at the breakdown. An all around effort makes Castillo this weeks Rugby Imports Player of The Week.
