Tri-State Conference Collegiate Rugby

It’s the business end of the season and here is where we stand with the Tri-State teams.

Fall 2024 regular season play finished 3 weeks ago and since then we have had quarterfinals and semifinals so this weekend, on Sunday November 10th, 2024 it’s Finals day.

MEN

The Tri-State Men came down to 4 teams as Hofstra University swept aside Vassar College 67-19 to avenge their Conference Final loss of last year. The Pride will take on the only unbeaten team left – USMMA, Kings Point.  USMMA disposed of a revitalized Montclair State University team 56-15. The final will take place at USMMA with kick-off at 12:00 noon.

National Collegiate Rugby (NCR) Postseason
The winner of the Final advances to the NCR Division III Champions Cup postseason and will host either Babson College or the College of the Holy Cross on Saturday November 16, 2024.
In the event that USMMA, Kings Point wins on Sunday they will host either Babson College or the College of the Holy Cross on Saturday November 16, 2024 and Hofstra University will advance to the NCR Challenge Competition and host either Nichols College or Bentley University for the opportunity to compete in the NCR Bowl.
 
If Hofstra wins on Sunday they will host either Babson College or the College of the Holy Cross on Saturday November 16, 2024 and Montclair State University will advance to the NCR Challenge Competition and host either Nichols College or Bentley University for the opportunity to compete in the NCR Bowl.
 
WOMEN
The semifinalists in the Women’s Division II were Vassar College, Marist College, Fairfield University and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Marist ran Vassar right down to the wire falling by just 6 points 33-39 meanwhile Fairfield had no trouble with Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute winning 68-0. So the final will take place at Vassar on Sunday at 12 pm with the hosts taking on Fairfield for the third time this year. Both Vassar and Fairfgield advance to the NCR Round of 16 with the winner going to the South Region in Culpeper, VA and the runner-up traveling to Canton, MA.
 
In Division III play SUNY-New Paltz upset Montclair State 40-38 before being well beaten by Siena College 64-5.
 
Siena will represent the Tri-State in the NCR Division III Championship.
