To All Tri-State Members,
I want to thank each and every one of the teams and in particular the administrators, both full time professionals and the student officers, for their level of involvement and communication with each other. In difficult and variable circumstances, to say the least, you have been respectful and accommodating. Yes, some games have had to be forfeited or rescheduled but students are getting the opportunity to participate in their chosen sport and represent their school with pride thanks to your efforts and hard work.
I want to also thank the referees for being flexible and helping to make a season possible. The RRSNY and NYRRS do a wonderful job covering our games and as is the tradition in rugby we welcome them as part of our rugby community. Referees are scheduled well in advance and often make plans around a venue at which they will be officiating. Only vaccinated referees are being assigned to college games. Here is a quick reminder of the confirmation policy for match secretaries and administrators:
Both Referee Societies have the Tri-State Conference schedule and assign referees.
o The home team is notified of the referee assigned to your game by email;
o You click on the name and send an email to the official provideing the start time, the field location, the method of payment your school uses, the team colors as well as additional pertinent information e.g. parking and your campus Covid policies;
o If you do not get a confirmation from the referee after that email by Tuesday evening then you should contact the Conference and ask for assistance (tobrown@vassar.edu).
The Bard College Men have not been able to get enough students to field a team this semester so their schedule is cancelled. They anticipate being able to have a 7s team in the spring.
