The Fall 2017 Conference Playoffs concluded on Sunday November 12, 2017 when the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Men defeated Sacred Heart University Men to take the Tri-State Rugby Conference title.

The Engineers won narrowly in the end as Sacred Heart staged a massive comeback having been down 22-5 at the half. The final was 35-32 and it is the RPI Men that advance to the USA Rugby National Championship Round of 16 and a game in Annapolis, MD at the U.S Naval Academy against the Cardinal Conference winner Virginia Military Institute (V.M.I.) on Saturday November 18, 2017. The following day RPI will face either UNC-Charlotte or Bloomsburg University in the quarterfinal or consolation game.
